With the help of the Y's fitness evaluations, get a comprehnsive look at your level of fitness. Evaluations provide useful information -- more than any tip of the scale can offer -- on how fit, flexible, strong and healthy your body is.
The evaluation, performed by Sue Fieseler, YMCA nutritionist. The evaluation takes into account:
- age
- gender
- measures height and weight
- blood pressure
- resting heart rate
- aerobic capacity (through a bicycling test)
- body-fat composition, strength (through an isometric lift)
- flexibility (through a sit and reach test).
The process takes about 45 minutes and results are given right away.
Any immediate concerns will be addressed as well as a discussion of what the results mean.
This is a form of preventive medicine, and is a super way to gain awareness about your overall
fitness. You also can determine how best to address the results through nutrition and exercise.
The initial assessment (which costs $75). You may also elect to act on their results by making additional appointments to work with Sue Fieseler on a nutrition plan or with a personal trainer—or a combination of both.
“Whether you’re a triathlete looking to improve results and fine-tune a sports-specific diet or you simply want to improve your overall health and eating habits, we can help you achieve your goals,” says Fieseler
