The Summit Area YMCA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization

The Y depends on the generosity of its supporters to continue providing quality programs

for the children, familes and adults we serve.  It is our mission to build healthy spirit, mind

and body for all.  "All" means that we assure that no one is ever turned away from the Y because

they cannot afford to participate.

Strong Kids Campaign provides Y Cares Financial

Assistance so that we do not turn anyone away*

Although the majority of kids who receive Y Cares Financial Assistance

come to us for child care, camps, swim and sports, and after-school programs,

we also provide assistance to adults, families and seniors for membership

to contribute to their overall health and well-being through subsidized membership.

The Strong Kids Campaign also enables the Y

to provide community outreach programs

We provide the Black and Latino Achievers Program, Homework Yes tutoring, SAT

and College Prep, Parenting and Literacy classes as well

as nutrition and wellness lectures to all ages, free of charge.

The Community Development Department focuses on

creating programs and resources for underserved

populations within our service area.

The Department works closely with public school officials and religious, community, and

business leaders to ensure that our programs are both effective and needed.

These partnerships are essential to keeping our programs current. As the community changes, the YMCA's programs grow and evolve to meet those needs.

Last year 28% of children enrolled in our childcare and afterschool programs

received financial assistance.

*Applicants to Y Cares Financial Assistance must qualify through a confidential application process. They must also reside in the Summit Area YMCA's service area thist includes: Springfield, Millburn/Short Hills, Summit, New Providence, Berkeley Heights, Gillette and Stirling.
