AFTERSCHOOL TEEN SPACE
The Teen Space is a designated place for student’s grades 7-12 and will be available Monday – Thursday 3-5:30pm. Teens will be able to sign up for activities that they want to participate in rather than just feeling “cared for.” Some choices will be to do homework, play games, shoot hoops, plan community service projects, or just simply hang out. All this will be facilitated by the Y staff responsible for working with teens.
Teen Leadership
LEADERS CLUB (GRADES 7-12)
The goal of the Leaders Club is to promote and enhance the personal growth and social skills of young people in order to develop leaders who will be a positive force in their communities. The leaders club provides club members with opportunities for leadership training, service to others, and personal growth. Young people meet on a weekly basis in small groups, working closely with their peers and a counselor on skill- and character-building activities, as well as on planning and organizing club projects. Meetings are generally Tuesday Nights at 7:00pm. Leaders Club is a safe haven for teens to be confident and competent young adults with a sense of belonging in their community. Please contact Joseph Marciszyn for more information. New members are always welcome.
YMCA Youth and Government (GRADES 8 – 12)
Motto: “Democracy must be learned by each generation.”
In this program, Teens make the laws by taking on the role of Legislator or even run for Youth Governor! Youth and Government is a YMCA leadership development program that offers 9th through 12th graders the opportunity to experience the legislative process first hand. Delegates will actually write bills and present them at a state legislative weekend in Trenton to try to get them passed through the Assembly and Senate. Conference is held at the New Jersey State House. Delegates meet regularly to prepare and research their bills and positions.

The Model United Nations program is an experience in diplomacy that provides teen members and adult leaders with a greater appreciation for our global community through hands-on involvement with international issues and solutions. The culminating conference, the General Assembly, is geared toward developing teen members’ international consciousness through role-play as they represent one of the members of the United Nations.
